Refund & Cancellation Policy

1. Subscription Plans

LawForge offers subscription-based access to our legal research platform. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to the billing terms described below.

Billing Cycles

All subscriptions are billed in advance. You will be charged at the beginning of each billing period.

2. Cancellation

How to Cancel ("Click to Cancel")

In compliance with the FTC's Negative Option Rule (16 CFR Part 425), you can cancel your subscription at any time through the same method you used to subscribe. Cancellation is as easy as signup:

• Account Settings: Go to your account dashboard and click "Manage Subscription" to access the Stripe customer portal
• Email: Send a cancellation request to billing@lawforge.io

Effect of Cancellation

When you cancel your subscription:

• Your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period
• You will retain full access to all features until the end of your paid period
• Automatic renewal will be disabled
• Your account will be downgraded to the free tier after the paid period ends
• Your data will be retained according to our Privacy Policy

3. Refund Policy

General Policy

As a digital subscription service, we generally do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. However, we may consider refunds on a case-by-case basis in the following circumstances:

• Technical Issues: If you experienced significant service outages or technical problems that prevented you from using the Service
• Billing Errors: If you were charged incorrectly or without authorization
• Duplicate Charges: If you were accidentally charged multiple times

Monthly Subscriptions

Monthly subscriptions are not eligible for prorated refunds. If you cancel during a billing period, you will retain access until the end of that period but will not receive a refund for the remaining days.

Annual Subscriptions

For annual subscriptions, we may offer a prorated credit or refund at our discretion if you cancel within the first 30 days of your subscription or renewal. After 30 days, annual subscriptions are not eligible for refunds.

4. European Union Customers

If you are located in the European Union, you may have additional rights under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), including a 14-day withdrawal period for online purchases.

If you have not accessed or used the Service and wish to exercise your withdrawal right, please contact us within 14 days of purchase at billing@lawforge.io.

5. Free Trial

We may offer free trials for certain plans. If you do not cancel before the end of the free trial period:

• Your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription
• You will be charged at the regular subscription rate
• You may cancel the trial at any time before conversion without charge

We will send you a reminder email before your trial expires if you have provided an email address.

6. Plan Changes

Upgrading

If you upgrade to a higher-tier plan, the change will take effect immediately. You will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your current billing period.

Downgrading

If you downgrade to a lower-tier plan, the change will take effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to your current plan's features until then. No refunds or credits are provided for downgrades.

7. Price Changes

We reserve the right to change our subscription prices. If we change prices for existing subscribers:

• We will provide at least 30 days' notice before the new price takes effect
• Price changes will apply at your next renewal
• You may cancel before the new price takes effect

Continued use of the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

8. Regulatory Compliance

This policy is designed to comply with applicable consumer protection laws, including:

• FTC Negative Option Rule (16 CFR Part 425): We provide simple cancellation mechanisms and clear disclosure of recurring charges
• Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act (15 U.S.C. § 8403): We obtain express informed consent before charging and provide clear material term disclosures
• EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU): We honor withdrawal rights for EU customers who have not accessed digital content

Where applicable law requires consumer protections beyond those stated in this policy, such legal requirements shall prevail.

9. Payment Methods

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and other payment methods as available through Stripe.

You are responsible for keeping your payment method up to date. If a payment fails:

• We will attempt to process the payment again
• We may send you a reminder to update your payment method
• Continued payment failure may result in suspension or termination of your subscription
